Ballet Competition – California Dance Classics

José Carayol serves as a ballet competition judge for California Dance Classics.

José Carayol is currently the Head of Artistic Programmes and Production at The Royal Ballet School in the UK. A distinguished ballet master, choreographic coach, and international judge, Mr. Carayol brings extensive experience from prestigious institutions around the world.

He studied at the Real Conservatorio Profesional de Danza de Carmen Roche and graduated with distinction. His professional career includes performances with Ballet Carmen Roche, Ballet Víctor Ullate, Ballet Concierto Iñaki Urlezaga, and SemperOper Ballet. He has also toured extensively as a guest artist and continues to work as a sought-after ballet competition judge and master teacher internationally.

Mr. Carayol completed all Royal Academy of Dance examinations with Distinction and is an ABT® Certified Teacher. He further studied dance pedagogy, anatomy, nutrition, and dancer psychology. Recognized for his excellence in teaching, he was selected as an Associate Teacher for American Ballet Theatre’s Project Plié initiative.

From 2019 to 2021, Mr. Carayol served as Director of the Student Company and Head of the Trainee Programme at The Joffrey Ballet in Chicago. His leadership helped shape the next generation of pre-professional dancers, with many of his students now performing in top companies worldwide.

In addition to his current work in London, José Carayol continues to support ballet competitions across the globe, including California Dance Classics, where he serves as an esteemed judge and mentor.
