Ballet Competition – California Dance Classics

Philip Broomhead has travelled the world as a dancer, coach and judge. In addition to his stage and teaching career, Mr. Broomhead is frequently involved in the ballet competition circuit, where he brings his global experience to mentoring and adjudication.

Philip trained at The Royal Ballet School in London and on graduation joined the Royal Ballet Company in 1981.

 

He was promoted to the prestigious position of Principal Dancer in 1986. In 1991 Phillip moved to America where he then joined Houston Ballet as a Principal Dancer and was featured in all of Mr. Stevenson’s Ballets and many other works until 2004, when he retired from the stage. Mr. Broomhead then served as Houston Ballet’s Ballet Master until 2011.

He is often invited to judge ballet competitions both nationally and internationally, contributing to the development of emerging dancers. Now, as School Director of Orlando Ballet School, Mr. Broomhead oversees the artistic and instructional leadership of the school and is in high demand as a guest Master Teacher in academies all around the world.
